At the I.I. Mechnikov Odesa National University, at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology, the annual 21st International Summer School on Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Biomedicine was held.

  The school's program included a lecture course — delivered online using the Zoom and YouTube platforms — as well as two laboratory courses: "DNA Cloning, Expression and Purification of Recombinant Proteins" and "Chromatography: Fundamentals of the Method and Practical Application," which were conducted in person at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology of Mechnikov Odessa National University.

  More than 4,000 participants from all over the word registered for the lecture course, including from Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Georgia, Germany, India, North Korea, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, and the United States of America.

  Forty-two scientists from the following countries were involved in delivering the lecture course: the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Poland, the USA, Ukraine, Finland, France, Czechia, and Sweden.

  Within the framework of the school, current research directions in the fields of molecular biology, biotechnology and biomedicine were presented, including genome editing, the application of artificial intelligence in biomedicine, the development of biopharmaceuticals, and much more.

  The Summer School was held with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and MHH Hannover Medical School.
